At BlueZone, we believe that expats and locals working together is the key to creating a thriving, supportive, and sustainable community. That’s why we’re passionate about giving back to the incredible people of Costa Rica. Whether it’s through sports, environmental conservation, or supporting local children, we’re committed to making a positive impact.

Here are some of the amazing initiatives we proudly support:
Proyecto Agarra Una Ola (Project Catch a Wave)
We absolutely love volunteering with Carmen Kokot and his incredible team at these events in Playa Samara. Seeing a need in the area, Carmen, an expat from Canada, took the initiative to create this program, ensuring that every local child has the chance to experience the joy of surfing.

What the Catch a Wave Project Does:
✔ Provides surfboards for local kids to check out free of charge for a few hours every day.
✔ Pays local surf instructors to promote safe and responsible surfing.
✔ Repairs damaged or broken surf gear, keeping equipment in good condition for long-term use.
We’ve been deeply impressed by the impact of this program. The kids love the experience, and it’s beautiful to see expats and locals coming together for something so meaningful. We look forward to many more events with Proyecto Agarra Una Ola!​
Futbol Love - Spreading Joy Through Futbol
At BlueZone, we know the power of fútbol to bring people together and create lasting memories. That’s why we support Futbol Love, an initiative that raises funds to buy soccer balls for underprivileged kids in Costa Rica and the United States.

✔ Every ball carries love, positive energy, and encouragement, making a lasting difference.
✔ The entire experience is captured on film to help inspire more people to support the movement.
Every child deserves to experience the pure happiness of playing soccer, and with your help, we can deliver even more soccer balls to young players in need.
The Ocean Cleanup - Tackling Plastic Pollution at a Global Scale
We are proud supporters of The Ocean Cleanup, the largest ocean cleanup initiative in history. This non-profit organization is developing and scaling groundbreaking technologies to remove trillions of pieces of plastic pollution from our oceans.

To achieve their mission, The Ocean Cleanup uses a dual strategy:
✔ Intercepting plastic in rivers to stop pollution at the source.
✔ Removing plastic from the ocean to clean up what has already accumulated and won't go away on its own.
​
Their ambitious goal? Clean up 90% of floating ocean plastic pollution—and put themselves out of business.

Proyecto Corales - Coral Reef Restoration
The ocean is at the heart of life in Costa Rica, and we are dedicated to protecting and restoring coral reefs through Proyecto Corales. This incredible initiative focuses on:
✔ Coral reef restoration efforts to revive marine ecosystems.
✔ Sustainable ocean conservation education to raise awareness in local communities.
✔ Engaging volunteers and scientists to actively restore damaged coral reefs.

Healthy reefs mean healthier marine life, better wave conditions, and a stronger environment for future generations. That’s why we’re committed to supporting this vital ocean conservation project.
